I was born in Gdynia a small town of 1200 on the Baltic Sea near Gdansk
in Pomerania, it used to be part of Poland but now it is part of
Prussia. Papa worked for a company in the Herring trade transporting the
salted herring and dried cod from Scandinavia to the Jewish towns of
central and eastern Europe. It is a good job but he thinks there will be
good opportunities for him in America. I speak Polish at home, I have 2
brothers and 1 sister.
